Walking in a Winter Wonderland

This year I was blessed with the opportunity to visit Hokkaido for the first time. I went with my friend Hunter. Hunter has a friend who lives in Otaru and we stayed with him. His friend’s name is Levi.

My journey had a rough start. I wound up having an eight hour flight delay. So, the whole first day of my vacation was spent at KIX airport. However, once I finally arrived in Hokkaido my friends and I went to an onsen so I could relax.

The next day I woke up in a beautiful winter wonderland! There was more snow than I had ever seen before! Levi told me that he has to shovel the snow every day during the winter. So, I thought “maybe the snow is only nice for vacation and not for living in.”

After shoveling the snow we set off on our adventure. We ate sushi at a popular restaurant called “Waraku.” Then we walked the famous shopping street in Otaru. After that, we went to a local coffee shop that Levi recommended. It is called, “Uguis Mitnahmen” and it had the best hot chocolate I’ve ever tasted! We saw and did lots of cool things that day, but my favorite was making snow cream at Levi’s house.

The next day we saw Mount Tengu and went to an outdoor onsen in Jozankei which I really loved! My favorite day of my trip was the last day. I was able to visit one of my friends who live in Hokkaido on their birthday and celebrate together! I then slept in a manga cafe and woke up the next day in order to fly to Osaka and work at imagine*.

Overall, I had a really amazing time! I enjoyed all of the snow, but the best thing was getting quality time with quality people. I look forward to visiting Hokkaido again in the future!
